Pesticide Container Recyling Issues

0 votes

We are fortunate to have a pesticide container recycling system in Halifax County, however, we are in danger of closing down some of the collection sites or losing it altogether.  This is because some of the users are not following the rules and are still dumping unrinsed containers, containers with caps and/or labels still attached and non-pesticide type containers such as oil and paint containers.  Recently, we have started placing decals on the dumpsters with warnings about the proper use.  Please make sure you do your part to utilize this service as it is intended.  If you know of or see anyone misusing these dumpsters, please report this to the Halifax Cooperative Extension office at 583-5161.

Remember the Rules:
1. Triple or Pressure Rinse Containers;  2. Remove Labels, Caps or Wire Handles;
3. No Containers Larger than 5 gallons;  4. Pesticide Containers Only
